Record any screen activity on your Mac

I often need to record my screen — whether it’s a bug demo, a walkthrough for a client, or a quick tutorial for my own notes. Built‑in macOS tools help in a pinch, but when I want more control or polished output, Setapp apps make the process a lot smoother. That’s how I capture any part of my screen with audio, trim clips quickly, and save clean videos without switching tools.

Setapp Apps used
Step-by-step process

Step 1

Launch CleanShot X, click Record Screen, and choose full or partial area. I like that it hides desktop icons and captures notifications cleanly — great for tutorials or walkthroughs

Step 2

Open Capto, set up recording area (whole screen, window, or webcam overlay), record, and then use its built‑in editing tools to trim, add captions, or annotate

Step 3

After starting a native screen recording, press Command + Control + Esc to stop instantly — super handy when I’m switching contexts quickly

Step 4

After recording, choose a save location or export your video to cloud storage, YouTube, or a project folder — ready for sharing or further editing
