How to open the camera on Mac and actually look good on a video call

Step 1

Click the Hand Mirror icon in the menu bar for an instant camera preview — see exactly how you look and what's behind you before joining any call.

Open Capto to record a webcam video with a live voiceover, then trim, annotate, and export without ever switching to a separate editor.

Step 3

Open CleanMyMac, run a Protection scan, and navigate to Application Permissions > Camera — review the full list and revoke access for any app that shouldn't have it.

Step 4

If the green camera light appears unexpectedly, run a CleanMyMac malware scan immediately to confirm no app is accessing the camera without permission.
