How to clear cache on Mac without digging through Library folders every time

Cache builds up quietly until the Mac starts dragging or the browser loads something that shouldn't exist anymore. Clearing it manually works once — automating it works every time.

Step-by-step process

Step 1

Open CleanMyMac, go to Privacy > Scan, select all browsers, and hit Remove — clears Safari, Chrome, and Firefox cache in one pass without opening each browser separately.

Step 2

Run CleanMyMac's Cleanup scan to find and delete outdated app caches — especially useful for apps you've removed but whose cache files are still sitting in the Library.

Step 3

Open CleanMyMac > Maintenance > Flush DNS Cache to force fresh DNS lookups — fixes connection issues caused by outdated or corrupt DNS records without touching Terminal.

Step 4

Open iStat Menus from the menu bar and review memory and CPU load — if the Mac is sluggish but cache isn't the cause, iStat Menus points to what's actually consuming resources.

Step 5

Record the full cache-clearing flow in Keysmith, assign it a custom hotkey, and trigger the entire cleanup in one keystroke from anywhere on the Mac.
