Step 1

Launch CleanMyMac X and run a Smart Scan

Step 2

Use System Junk Cleanup and Large & Old Files modules to safely remove files that are taking space behind the scenes

Step 3

Clean up browser caches and offline files with CleanMyMac X or browser‑specific cleanup options — this trims down the space labeled “System” in macOS

Step 4

Restart and recheck storage. After cleanup, restart your Mac and check storage again — you’ll see “System” shrink and overall free space increase
