Capture text from any visual on Mac

That’s how I keep my iPhone and Mac perfectly in sync — whether I’m backing up photos, moving videos, managing contacts, or setting up a new device. AnyTrans from Setapp makes transfers easy, and when I pair it with tools like CleanMyMac X and Dropover, my device tasks go from chaotic to smooth in no time.

Step-by-step process

Step 1

Take a screenshot or open an image with text you want to capture

Step 2

Run TextSniper to grab the text. Press Shift + Command + 2, drag to highlight the area with text, and TextSniper instantly puts it into your clipboard.

Step 3

Use CleanShot X for quick screenshots and annotations. If you need a clean visual first, use CleanShot X (cmd+3/4/5) to take the screenshot, annotate if needed, then extract text with TextSniper

Step 4

Open Ulysses (or Notes/Pages) and paste the captured text. It’s now editable, searchable, and ready for your project

Step 5

Organize and refine text. In Ulysses, tag, structure, and refine the captured text as part of your articles, research notes, or content drafts

Step 6

Save or export your final text. Export from Ulysses as Markdown, PDF, or copy into a project — no manual retyping ever
